Unfortunately due to house moves, long weekends and client meetings, it's very quiet in the office today with only two of us in at the moment! This means we've not really been able to get in the April Fool's mood ourselves with our own pranks, but we have been enjoying everyone elses! Here's just a few of our favourites (in no particular order)...
1. 'WoofWoof' the new pet-2-pet networking site from TalkTalk
It would seem TalkTalk have been busy putting together a complete campaign for their April Fool's joke. Their new pet networking system 'WoofWoof' launched today complete with webpages, youtube video and doggy testimonials. What makes this April Fools so good however is the attention to detail - for example, by clicking on the 'how it works' page, you'll be taken to a full breakdown of the system complete with alternative 'languages' that can take part! Excellent attention to detail and a campaign well done!
According to Google they have just succeeded in creating the next generation in human computing by introducing 'Google Motion'. The technology enables users to control GMail with their body, doing away with an unnecessary keyboard and mouse. They too have created a full campaign with explanation videos and 'graphs' which indicate which body movements relate to which action. Although we love the depth with which they have thought about the campaign, this one actually appealed to us just because of its off-the-wall nature.
For those avid collectors of all things Marmite, or those who simply cannot get enough, today Vaseline launched an all new Marmite lip balm - or so they claim! This one is on our list simply because it's cute, wacky and fun!
Bristol Zoo today made claims that all their keepers got their kit off in aid of pioneering research into gorilla behaviour and sensitivity. The keepers continued their day-to-day work on Gorilla Island, acting as normal, except for their lack of clothing! Hats off to all the keepers who got naked for this campaign!
Yes, another naked April Fool's - a broadcast PR agency in London started a campaign which implied they are naked on Fridays! Not one we'll be taking up in our office, but the video is a bit of fun!
No need for an explanation; today, Groupon were seen to be selling tickets to the Royal Wedding in April for only £8. That's a novel discount voucher!
Anyway, that's plenty to be getting on with! We've loved the fun of April Fool's Day and some of the fab campaigns that companies have come up with - all in the name of PR! Well done and for a few more great campaigns, check out the Telegraph article.
P.S. If there are any you think we've missed, feel free to let us know!
