Second Life - rolling on...
Well it's been a while hasn't it?!
Hope you haven't missed us too much and rest assured we are now back and here to stay! The reason for such a long absence? Well we've been looking at other platforms - we've considered Blogger (where Sam & Jake keep their blogs) we've looked at Wordpress (home to apt snippets and Ian's blog) but in the end we knew TypePad was where we belong! Anyway, getting back to what this blog is all about…
It seems that the popularity of Second Life shows no signs of dying down. A report on the BBC website estimates that the Second Life market is now worth almost £500m, with companies like Nissan and Reebok becoming the latest to get a piece of the action.
The BBC itself will today begin broadcasts of a virtual kind in a Second Life cinema and Sky have gone as far as to invite ‘avatars’ into their (web-based) 'studio island'. How long before Virgin gets in on the act?
Bruce Willis became the talk of Second Life this week after a virtual press call to help promote Die Hard 4.0. There seemed to be very little difference between real and virtual worlds; the star was 90 minutes late, the journalists gossiped between themselves and a lot of questions went unanswered…
